There is a little of everything and, many times, a national product of signed credits. Tavira has set up a program for the summer of 2013 that bets on «quality regional and national production», as well as on several fairs. A program that started on Monday, with the festival International Festival of Theater and Street Arts «Cenas de Rua» and lasts until mid-September.

In 2013, the big news is the return of «Jazz at the Palace» to the summer schedule, with several concerts scheduled for the Palácio da Galeria Park, where some of the most renowned national artists of this musical style will be present. Music, for all tastes, is one of the program's strong points.

Second revealed to Sul Informação the mayor of Tavira Jorge Botelho, the municipality bet on a vast program, but kept its feet on the ground. "This is programming that we can afford," he assured.

«This year we will have a new version of “Jazz at the Palace”. Two years ago it took place, but last year there was no financial allocation for this initiative», he revealed. The event returns in 2013 and opens with the well-known duo Maria João and Mário Laginha, on July 19, who will presentá his new work «Iridescent».

This is followed by Carlos Bica & Azul with Frank Möbus and Jim Black (July 26) and Kolme with Ruben Alves, Carlos Miguel and Miguel Amado (July 27).

Portuguese music will be highlighted in the summer of Tavira, highlighting the concerts of Orquestra do Algarve with Amor Eletro (August 9,), by the fado singer Hélder Moutinho (August 16) and JP Simões (August 24).

Jorge Botelho highlighted the show that «Entre Aspas» will give on the 30th of August, a special concert that will serve to mark the 20th anniversary of this band «which is from Tavira». All these concerts will take place in the Palácio da Galeria Park, next to the castle, the place chosen to host many of the planned events.

This will not prevent the Praça da República from always having a lot of entertainment, because it is an emblematic place of the city, next to the River Gilão. “In Praça da República there will be many shows. I usually say that they are to start the night», said Jorge Botelho.

Philharmonics, folklore, world music, ballroom dancing and novelties such as the Opera Gala with lyrical vocal quartet, piano and string quartet (August 2nd), Orquestra do Algarve (August 17th) and Melech Mechaya (August 31st) are part of the program. There will also be “Fado no Coreto” every week.
