Portimão will be the meeting point for regional and national organic farming producers during the 26th and 27th of July, through the Terra Sã Algarve 2013 event, considered the largest exhibition of organic products in the country.
On these dates, organic farming in the Algarve region will be highlighted at Jardim 1º de Dezembro, at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes and next to the old Lot of Portimão, in an initiative organized by Agrobio – Portuguese Association of Biological Agriculture, with support from the Municipality of Portimão and that has free entry.
On both days, from 9:00 am to 14:00 pm, the Biological Market will take place, and on Friday organic farming in the Algarve will be the subject of a seminar, while on Saturday different lectures will take place between 14:00 pm and 18:00 pm.
Topics such as marketing, control and certification, research and organic production will be discussed, while it will be possible to learn about different projects, namely in terms of organic rice and community gardens.
As in Portimão the watchword in July is “vacation”, Terra Sã Algarve 2013 will have a Biological Arraial where fresh and tasty products will be tasted to the sound of music, between 19pm and midnight.
Terra Sã began in 1988 and since then the event has grown gradually, to the point of becoming the biggest event of organic farming in the national panorama, bringing together in previous editions in Lisbon and Porto more than 80 exhibitors, including producers, stores and companies of services and production factors in the sector, associations for the protection of the environment, handicrafts and renewable energies, with around 15 visitors at the fair held last April in the capital.
Agrobio Markets on Saturdays
On the other hand, between 9:00 and 14:00 every Saturday, Jardim 1º de Dezembro is a reference for those who want to know the vegetables, wines and infusions of Algarve producers, which can be purchased at the Agrobio Markets.
In addition to bringing together local producers, the initiative is also the stage for different lectures and workshops that constitute an additional motive of interest for consumers, taking place until the end of the year, in an initiative by Agrobio, a non-governmental environmental organization, with recognized public utility status.
Association of agriculture and consumer environment protection, Agrobio represents an aggregating center of people who share common concerns about food quality, health, the environment and the defense of a healthier agricultural practice, currently bringing together more than 6000 associates.
