Via Algarviana is more than a structured and signposted walking route in the Algarve mountains, it is also the people who live in the territories, the small businesses that exist there and the heritage and culture of the populations of the interior. And that is precisely what the new promotional video for this road that crosses the Algarve, from Guadiana to Sagres, aims to demonstrate.

The new Via Algarviana promotion tool was presented this Friday by Almargem, in Loulé and is just a sample of the materials that the Algarve association will launch by the end of the year, under the application «Via Algarviana II – Ecotourism in the Interior of the Algarve”, co-financed by the European Union.

Second revealed to Sul Informação Via Algarviana II project manager Anabela Santos, the video will be available from the middle of next week on Youtube and Gmail and will also be used by Turismo do Algarve in its promotional actions in the region.

«The big difference from the previous promotional video, in addition to being more appealing and current, is that we tried to convey everything that Via Algarviana is all about. In other words, it is more than a pedestrian route, it is also the people who live there, the accommodation. None of the testimonies are fictitious. We also wanted to focus on heritage and landscape, of course», he revealed.

There are versions of the video in Portuguese and English and two films were made, a longer one «with more than five minutes, which will be used in fairs» and another with «a little more than two minutes», the one that will be posted on the sharing sites for reach the general public.

This is just «the first presentation of many», since «until the end of the year there will be news». Almargem is «finalizing everything» regarding this application and Anabela Santos highlights two highly requested products.

From the outset, a new printed edition of the Via Algarviana Guide, as the first one «sold out long ago» and, despite existing in PDF format, for many people «it's not the same thing». "We are going to reissue the guide and it will already include the 12 new routes, the five connecting routes" and information about new developments that emerged in this second phase of the project, he said.

Another novelty is the creation of a Via Algarviana Passport, a free document that visitors can stamp each time they complete a section, «similar to what exists on the Caminhos de Santiago de Compostela».

“We still don't know what prize we will give to the one who completes it. In any case, the Passport has an essentially symbolic charge», referred the project manager.

Also in the pipeline is the launch of new informational brochures, «with a more up-to-date image», as well as the development and promotional material more aimed at fairs.

The Via Algarviana II project has a total budget of 1,4 million euros, of which 980 thousand euros are guaranteed by community funds, under the PO Algarve 21. The national contribution is guaranteed by the association Almargem, by the Regional Entity and Tourism of Algarve, by the Algarve Tourism Association and the regional authorities.
