Three dozen students from the EB1 school in Gilvrazino, municipality of Loulé, took a boat trip, on the morning of June 7, along the Algarve coast, enjoying the landscape from an unusual perspective, since, for most children, this tour represented the debut on board a vessel.

This was the way in which the company Marina de Vilamoura/Lusort, in partnership with the Municipality of Loulé, celebrates World Oceans Day, which was celebrated the following day, on 8 June.

The objective of the tour for young students aboard the “Vital”, a 15-meter long catamaran, provided by Cruzeiros de Vilamoura was also to raise awareness among the school public of the importance of the role that the oceans play in our Planet.

As in previous years, this environmental awareness action had the collaboration of Zoomarine, through the presence of an educator who addressed, in a playful and educational way (through games), themes such as the problem of pollution in the seas and the negative impacts of fishing on the marine ecosystem with incidental capture of non-target species (such as dolphins, turtles, sea lions, among others).

The commemorative morning ended with a snack off the coast and with the group declaration as “Oceans Defenders”, where each participant received the respective certificate and a “Environment Defender” cap.
