The village of Penina, in Benafim, municipality of Loulé, will host from 10 June to 10 July the traveling street exhibition on stelae with writing from the Southwest and the Iron Age in the municipality of Loulé, «Who writes to us since Serra", an exhibition that is now in Salir. The opening is scheduled for the Day of Portugal, at 21 pm.
Organized by the Municipality of Loulé and the ESTELA Project, the exhibition aims to make the general public aware of this theme and the archaeological materials of the Municipality of Loulé that are related to it.
The exhibition is designed to show how this phenomenon results from a historical and heritage process that will interact with the public spaces of the localities and with the surrounding spaces, as the mountain landscape is the environment where these cultural values are revealed.
Located on public streets, the exhibition presents well-illustrated written content and is organized into six themes: the Iron Age, writing in the Southwest, the world of the living, death, researchers and the sets of stelae of Benafim/ Salir and the Plum.
As part of the inauguration of this exhibition in Penina – Benafim, the Barradas stele temporarily returns to the parish of origin where it was found. The video will also be presented that reveals the constructive process of the exhibition, from the idea to its implementation, passing through the people involved and the logistical means involved, as well as disclosing some of the contents of the exhibition.
