"There are those who want to keep the Government artificially connected, but this doesn't really solve the problem," said António José Seguro, secretary general of the PS, this Friday night, in his speech that closed the presentation of the candidacy of Isilda Gomes to the Portimão Chamber.

Without naming him, but having as addressee the President of the Republic, Seguro expressed his willingness "to take over [the Government] and to solve the country's problems."

«But to do this, we need the people to speak out, because in democracy and in moments of great gravity, there is nothing better than giving the Portuguese back the floor so that they can say in a clear way who they want to govern and which the political project they want», stressed the leader of the socialists.

"Unfortunately, no one believes in this Government or in the path that Portugal is being led with this Prime Minister," added Seguro, saying that "I have been telling the Prime Minister for over a year and a half that he is leading Portugal to tragedy and the Portuguese to impoverishment, because the austerity strategy at all costs would only aggravate the problems».

Referring to the declaration of unconstitutionality, by the Constitutional Court, of four measures of the State Budget, the PS leader underlined that “the country no longer has a government and also no longer has a State budget for 2012”.

This Government, said Seguro, "is incapable, it is incompetent to solve the problems of Portugal."
