The Constitutional Court put down cuts in vacation pay for civil servants and pensioners, changes to sickness and unemployment benefits, and cuts in research grants and teaching contracts.

With the unfeasibility of these measures provided for in the State Budget, the Government will have to find alternatives to fit an amount that could reach 1300 million euros, in 2013.

The Constitutional Court confirmed, on the other hand, the extraordinary contribution of pensioners who receive more than 1350 euros, as well as cuts in civil service salaries, among others.

In the first reactions, both the PS and the PCP asked for the resignation of the Government, considering that the current executive “is unable to govern”.

As for what he expects from the next Council of Ministers, PS Secretary General António José Seguro told journalists, in Portimão, that "this Government is no longer expected."
