«Consolidate the Portimão Petisco Route as a tourist attraction in the city» is one of the objectives for this year's edition of that event, which is already scheduled for the period from 6th September to 13th October.

The Teia d'Impulsos association, which has organized the Rota do Petisco since its first edition, in 2011, announced last Saturday, during its second birthday party, at the F Food & Wine Restaurant, in Praia da Rocha, that « the motto of this 3rd edition will be to make Portimão the National Capital of Petisco! It is essential to continue to “sell” the Portimão Petisco Route as one of the main attractions of the summer season at a regional level».

But there will be more news: «so that the Rota continues to grow, the objective is to expand its area of influence, which will involve the creation of a Rota area in Alvor, the result of a partnership with the Alvorecer Association».

Teia d'Impulsos also intends for the concept of the Petisco Route to "extend the limits of the municipality of Portimão" and thus one of the novelties of this year's edition will be the inclusion of an Extra Zone, corresponding to a neighboring town invited to expand the Route . Although it has not been announced what this location will be, the Sul Informação he knows that it is Ferragudo, in the neighboring municipality of Lagoa, but also on the banks of the Arade river.

In its first two editions, Rota was a success. Last year, for example, more than 35 thousand Rota menus were sold.

For this reason, «the objectives of the initiative are repeated, namely the promotion of the restoration and traditional gastronomy of Portimão, the social and cultural animation of the city and the enrichment of the county's tourist offer», guarantees the association.

The operating model will also be the same, maintaining the price list of the route menus, 2,50 euros in the snack modality and 2,00 euros in the regional sweet modality.

The Passport will also continue to be Petiscadores' best friend. But, continuing on the path of innovation, in addition to the usual information, the Passport will also be colored by the “Traditional Trade Route”. The commercial establishments represented on this route will offer advantages in the acquisition of their goods and services to Route participants, upon presentation of a passport. "This will be an opportunity to contribute to the dynamization of local commerce, encouraging participants to alternate shopping with a snack."

But the news continues: in 2013, the image of Rota do Petisco de Portimão will be renewed, in a work that will be the responsibility of MODO, by the artist Inês Barracha.

In its third edition, Rota will also be solidary. When starting their tour, all appetizers will be invited to make a donation of one euro. The amount raised in the “Piggy Banks of the Route” will then be handed over to one or more social solidarity institutions, which will shortly be identified by the project organization.

The commitment to the Portimão Petisco Route Cultural Entertainment Program is also maintained, with the preparation of a recreational and cultural events program that intersects with the gastronomic itinerary.

This program will once again consist of various artistic manifestations, with emphasis on music, street entertainment and plastic arts exhibitions. Among the novelties of the Cultural Animation Program for this edition, the “Illustration Route”, the “Algarve Wine Festival”, the “Long Nights of the Route” and thematic parties of the Snack Route of Portimao.

This presentation of the Portimão Petisco Route, the result of a fundamental partnership with the Municipality of Portimão, was attended by the Mayor Manuel da Luz.

In his speech, the mayor highlighted the potential that the Rota do Petisco represents for the promotion of the city and for attracting new visitors. Portimão's Petisco Route can be a differentiating factor from the rest of the Algarve, particularly if the concept of the Petisco Capital is successfully publicized nationwide.

Teia d'Impulsos considers that the project has a dynamic that “could grow exponentially depending on the active participation of different sectors of our local society. Rota revived a once-forgotten concept in the city, the “snack”. More than a form of socializing and fun, why not think of “snacking” as an opportunity for economic development for the city? Teia d'Impulsos leaves here, to all Portimonenses, a challenge: in 2013 we are going to make Portimão the Capital of Petisco!».
