Vila Real de Santo António Secondary School will show "the insecurity and degradation of facilities" to deputies to the Assembly of the Republic, next Monday, at 10:30 am, announced in a statement, the General Council of the Vila Real Group of Schools of St. Anthony.

The purpose of this visit is to make known the consequences of the suspension of the school's refurbishment works, under the responsibility of Parque Escola, an intervention that has been stopped “for a year and a half”, a situation that undermines “the quality of education and jeopardizes the safety of all the school community».

"The visit also aims to alert to the lack of conditions existing in the temporary premises of the school, most of which are made up of containers, whose deterioration has already prevented the opening of the teaching establishment during the last storm and is disturbing the normal functioning of classes" , revealed the entity.

To show this reality, the General Council of the group will take the parliamentary delegation to visit the «three dozen temporary classrooms», a tour that it believes will «demonstrate the inexistence of support structures and will also show the path of more than two kilometers which students are required to do in order to benefit from physical education classes».

“The action ends with a lunch in the school's cafeteria which, due to the works, is also operating in containers, with just over 20 square meters to serve the hundreds of daily meals made there”, he concluded.
