The Philosophy group from the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School, in Portimão, repeats this Thursday, World Philosophy Day, a tradition that has been around for several years, through the exhibition of a film with philosophical content and the production and dissemination of original texts purposely written for this purpose by the teachers.

This time the chosen film was “Lord of The Flies”, by Harry Hook, based on the homonymous book by William Golding.

The original texts by the school's Philosophy teachers are, this year, the answer to this “challenge”: to reflect philosophically on a freely chosen film.

The film “O Senhor das Moscas” is shown at 10 am in the school auditorium, while the texts are shown in block B in an exhibition set up for that purpose.

Finally, the Philosophy group decided launch this blog today, which will constitute a public space for philosophical dissemination and discussion, open to all interested parties.

It will also publish texts, interviews and other documents that are part of the diverse collection created over the last 15 years.

The Philosophy Group of the Secondary Manuel Teixeira Gomes appreciates the submission of suggestions, including with regard to the graphic aspect of the blog, which is still under construction. «The final design (themes, colors, photos, etc.) will take into account suggestions that make us arrive», guarantee the teachers.
