Socialist Youth asked the Chamber of Faro to temporarily suspend “the existing parking meters in the city's downtown and in areas close to Largo de São Francisco”, due to the holding of Feira de Santa Iria in the largest free parking exchange in the city.

In a letter addressed to the mayor of Faro Macário Correia, to the "common sense" he appeals to, JS/Faro justified the request with the fact that «the solution presented by the City Council of Faro, free parking at Parque da Pontinha, only on weekdays, is insufficient compared to the more than 600 vehicles (capacity in this park) that, from Monday to Friday, occupy the parking spaces at Largo de São Francisco».

"During this period, this park will be fully occupied by the fair, thus giving rise to the obligation to pay parking meters to workers, residents and visitors to downtown, who inevitably find the park on the tip full", added the young socialists, who consider this perspective « unacceptable".
