The National/Liberty Seguros paracycling team participates, for the first time, in a World Cup event in that discipline. The premiere takes place this weekend, between Friday and Sunday, in Segovia, Spain.

The national colors will be defended by four cyclists: Pedro Basílio and Telmo Pinão, who will participate in the tests for amputees, and André Sobreiro and André Venda, who will line up in the events for paraplegic athletes.

This participation is part of the commitment of the Portuguese Cycling Federation to the development of all aspects of the sport and to encourage the widespread practice of velocipedia.

“It's a learning opportunity for the runners and the coaching staff. We will not demand results from our cyclists. This first participation will serve to assess our level, comparing it with the best in the world, and to encourage these and other runners with a view to the future”, clarifies the national road selector José Poeira, who is accompanying the delegation, together with the masseuse Paulo Silva and mechanic Carlos Rocha.

André Sobreiro and André Venda are the first to take action, running the time trial and handcycling background on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Pedro Basílio and Telmo Pinão fight against the chronometer on Saturday and run in line on Sunday.
