Vlade Divac, a legend of the LA Lakers and NBA and current chairman of the Serbia Olympic committee, or players Sérgio Ramos (Benfica), José Costa and Nuno Marçal (FC Porto) are some of the names that will be present in the Algarve to participate In the first Minerva Camps, from August 5th to September 2nd, high quality basketball vacation camps.

The camps are aimed at young people aged between 14 and 19, with basic knowledge of English.

Launched by the company Twinkleidea, Minerva International Camps have as main objective to improve the skills of the participants, allowing them to become better prepared young adults for the global market, while reinforcing the values ​​that underlie the European project : peace, freedom, dignity, autonomy, solidarity, tolerance, sustainable development, respect for the environment and active citizenship.

The organization is in charge of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve and has the support of the Municipality of Faro, from the University of Algarve, the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, Turismo de Portugal, the Portuguese Basketball Federation, the National Youth Council, the European Youth Forum and the European Commission, both fields being sponsored by Gillette.

In addition to the names already mentioned, the basketball fields have the presence of Moncho Lopez, FC Porto coach and former Spanish coach, Moncho Fernandez, coach of the Obradoiro Amigos Club de Baloncesto of the ACB league, the main Spanish league, Amaya Valdemoro, captain of the Spanish team and three times WNBA champion, Elisa Aguilar, player of the Spanish team, Ricardo Vasconcelos, national women's coach, Rui Alves, national under-16 coach and Joana Lopes and Carla Nascimento, international players for Portugal.

Coordination will be the responsibility of Donnie Arey, a renowned North American coach who runs basketball fields in more than 20 countries, including the NBA and WNBA, the Orlando Magic and the prestigious Michael Jordan Flight School.

These holiday camps allow participants to practice various sports such as bodyboarding, surfing, windsurfing, canoeing, beach volleyball, beach football, beach rugby, basketball, football, abseiling, climbing, mountain biking, golf, tennis, horseback riding, paintball , karting, kite surfing and diving, among others.

They also allow participants to attend intensive language courses (English, French, Spanish and Portuguese for foreigners).

As for accommodation, it will be done in the university residences of the University of Algarve, with the food being the responsibility of chef Guram Baghdoshvilli, who worked at the famous El Celler de Can Roca, a three-Michelin-starred restaurant, which was voted the second best in the world in 2011.
