The first weeks of June bring to Tempo – Teatro Municipal de Portimão music by Luísa Sobral, Teatro do Bolhão with “A Menina do Mar” and dance with “Baile dos Gordos”.

Luísa Sobral presents “The Cherry On My Cake” at 21:30 pm on Saturday, June 2, at the Grande Auditório Nuno Mergulhão, the young jazz singer's first album, which has sold out audiences all over the country.

At just 23 years old, Luísa Sobral is already one of the greatest revelations of Portuguese music in recent years: combining the teachings of jazz with the apparent ease with which she composes her own songs, the album “The Cherry On My Cake” is composed of brilliant compositions of his authorship, with the exception of one theme that is not part of the jazz songbooks and which is “Saiu Para a Rua”, by Rui Veloso.

Influenced by jazz names such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Chet Baker, but also by exponents of other musical genres such as Beatles, Bjork, Elis Regina or Regina Spektor, Luísa studied music in Boston.

During her stay in the US, she was nominated for Best Jazz Song at the Malibu Music Awards (2008), Best Jazz Artist at the Hollywood Music Awards, International Songwirting Competition (2007) and The John Lennon Songwriting Competition (2008).

In Tempo, he will perform with João Salcedo, on piano, Carlos Miguel, on drums, and João Hasselberg, on double bass, in a show with tickets costing 15 euros.

Also in the Grand Auditorium, on June 8, at 14 pm for schools, and on June 00 at 9 pm for families, the Oficina do Espectador do Tempo closes the school year with the presentation of “A Menina do Mar”, by the Bolhão Theater Group.

Directed by Joana Providência and based on the work of Sophia de Mello Breyner, “A Menina do Mar” is a contemporary narrative, written in poetic prose, and an emblematic text of children's literature that feeds the viewer's thirst for dreams and wonderful, told here through dance and puppet theater.

The show, translated into Portuguese sign language, is aimed at children over 6 years old and costs 2,50 euros for young spectators up to 12 years of age and 5 euros for the rest of the audience.

Also on the 9th, at 22 pm, Tempo goes out into the street and invites adults and children to a ball at Jardim do Largo 00º de Dezembro (in front of the theatre), in a return to the traditional ball and the carnival mask game, with free entry.

In this organization of the Pé de Xumbo Association, with music by Aqui ha Baile, the dancers at the “Baile dos Gordos”, who will be volunteers from among the public, have at their disposal a choice of clothing that transforms them into fat bodies, with generous and plump shapes. , suitable for a rhythmic dance, while a monitor will teach them the most appropriate steps.
