A small group of photographers from ALFA – Free Association of Algarve Photographers, made up of partners Mauro Rodrigues, Ana Gonzalez and Ana Oliveira, travels to Paris, from May 6th to 9th, to celebrate Europe Day (9th) and to participate in the first tour of the exhibition “Algarve Florido – enchanted mouras in Pechão”, on the theme of almond trees in bloom.

The exhibition, in which twenty photographers participated, was the result of a photographic tour held at the end of February and the result of a partnership between ALFA and the Parish Council of Pechão, in Olhão.

The delegation leaves at the invitation of Custódio Moreno, president of the Pechão Parish Council, is part of a group of seven people, made up of mayors, photographers and artists, who will exchange cultural experiences within the scope of the Gemination that the Pechão Council has maintained since 2005, with the Municipality of Morangis, a small town on the outskirts of Paris, France.

This year marks the European Year of Active Aging and Intergenerational Solidarity. In France, the Europe Day celebrations will take place on the 8th and 9th of May at the Hotel de Ville de Paris and in Morangis.

The program includes a show of Portuguese popular music with the fado singer Rosinda Vargues, gastronomic tastings and its highlight is the inauguration of two exhibitions: a collective by nine artists from Pechão and the other by ALFA.

In Portugal, Europe Day festivities take place in Guimarães, Lisbon and S. Brás de Alportel, with activities for all ages and where the exhibition “Olhares sobre Europa” will be inaugurated.
