Portinado, two-time national champions, achieved another great feat for sport in the Algarve last weekend in Silves, by guaranteeing for the 7th consecutive time the qualification for the final phase of the National Championship of the 1st Water Polo Division, after of having beaten Paredes/Rota dos Móveis by 2-1, in the three playoff games of the semi-final.

In Sunday's game, which would decide the opposing team of Salgueiros in the final, Portinado won Parede/Rota dos Móveis by 10-7 (1-3, 3-1, 1-0, 1-2, 1-0 and 3 -1), after extra time, in what was the third semi-final match.

At the end of regular time, the result was tied at 6-6, with extra time being necessary to decide which team would go on to the final.

In a game not recommended for cardiac patients and after a very strong entry by Paredes, the Portinado team managed to balance the match and move ahead of the marker.

Without being able to count on the player Moreira, due to the expulsion for accumulated fouls, everything seemed to get complicated for the Algarve.

However, with a spirit of sacrifice, determination of the players and support from the public, who attended en masse in Silves, Portinado managed to get the better of Paredes and thus ensure the 3rd consecutive final in their history.

The Wallans won the first game in the North by 16-9 and in the second game in Silves, held last Saturday, the Algarve won by 16-13.

The Individual highlight goes to the young athlete Cristiano Joaquim, who on Sunday was the best attacking player on the field, having scored 5 goals.

In a great moment of form, there is also the goalkeeper of the Portimonian nets Nycolai Yanochko, who gave great confidence to his colleagues with excellent and decisive saves.

The national champions will now meet Salgueiros, in a final play off played in the best of five games. The first meeting is scheduled for May 5th.

The players are grateful for "all the support and energy that Portinado supporters transmit to the team during the games".

The play off of the final starts on the next weekend of May 5th and 6th. The opponent in the fight for the title is once again Salgueiros, who beat CNAmadora in their semi-final.

The final will be held in the best of five games and will take place on the first three weekends of May, being the 1st, 2nd and 5th* game at Salgueiros' house and the 3rd and 4th* at Portinado's house, in a place that is still to define.
