The Argentine Jorge Montenegro (Louletano/Dunas Douradas) was this Thursday the winner of the 1st stage of the Volta ao Alentejo, followed by another from the Algarve, Samuel Caldeira, from Carmim/Prio/Tavira, who finished in 2nd place, at the same time of the winner.

The Volta ao Alentejo kicked off today in Castelo de Vide towards Redondo, with 150 runners lining up for the match.

For the sporting director Vidal Fitas, from Carmim/Prio/Tavira, "the result of today knew a little, because the team worked well and our goals are victory, but it is still the first day and we will continue to work in this direction" .

This Friday, the second stage departs from Portel and ends in Santiago do Cacém, making it the longest run with 191.3 kilometres.

The runners from Tavira's team to participate are Ricardo Mestre, Samuel Caldeira, Henrique Casimiro, Tomás Metcalfe, David Livramento, Nelson Vitorino, Luís Silva, and Diogo Nunes.
