The Medical Emergency Post of the Aljezur Volunteer Fire Department was integrated into the National Automatic External Defibrillation Program of INEM, within the scope of the 3rd phase of the extension of the INEM DAE program to the ambulances of the fire brigades.
Presented as essential for better medical assistance to victims of cardiopulmonary arrest, the program and respective equipment will reflect the improvement in the quality and efficiency of the service provided to the population, in the context of pre-hospital emergency.
To operate with the automatic external defibrillator, the Fire Department has 10 trained personnel and accredited by INEM.
During the current year, 14 situations of cardiorespiratory arrest were registered in the 753 pre-hospital emergency services carried out by firefighters in Aljezur.
