The jury has already decided who the winners of the I Olhão'11 Photography Contest are. The elements of the group led by Cultural Councilor António Pina chose the best works in the three categories in the competition, but the results will only be announced on September 16, at the Hotel Real Marina, at 18:00.
The competition, which can be considered a “true success”, according to the president of the jury, António Pina, due to the large number of candidate works – 903 in total, delivered by 109 participants – revealed that the Historic Center of Olhão could be the reason of interest to many professional and amateur photographers.
Of the hundreds of works received – many of great quality – 16 were awarded in the categories of monochrome photography (black and white) on paper, color photography on paper and photography on digital support.
Among the prizes awarded, the special “City of Olhão” is highlighted, awarded to the one considered 'best of the best', regardless of the sport.
The list of winners will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held on September 16 at the Real Marina Hotel & Spa and at the weekly barlavento, sponsors of the initiative.
The photography exhibition, with free entry, will be on display until 30 September at this hotel in Olhano.
The initiative of the Olhão'11 Photography Competition was taken by the Municipality of Olhão and had the collaboration of the ALFA (Free Association of Algarve Photographers) and Música XXI associations, which are dedicated to activities in the area of theatre, music or photography.
