The RUA Stage – Música JA is returning from the 18th to the 20th of April, at Doca de Faro. The poster, which will be an appetite for Academic Week, “promises” in the words of the president of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg).
The lineup of artists was presented this Friday, April 12th, by AAUAlg, at a press conference at Fórum Algarve, in Faro.
The RUA Stage, which also includes the “Musica JA” competition, starts next Thursday, April 18th, with Electric Gold and André Boniche concerts.
On Thursday, the 19th, the performances will be by Pineapple Express Band, Peculiar and Artmusa.
On Friday, the 20th, the shows will be by Isrobro, Rollinbaby and Suri.
These eight projects will then perform during the Algarve Academic Week, on a secondary stage, and the winners of the “Musica JA” competition will only be known later.
For Rita Tavares, president of AAUAlg, this is a «poster that promises».
«This is a competition that has reached the eyes of other entities in the region who are getting to know it and promoting spaces where artists can come together more», he stressed.
The leader of the Academic Association also addressed the fact that organizing this stage, together with the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth and RUA FM, «is a challenge».
Tiago Griff, director of RUA, explained that there were a total of 50 applications received, «more than double last year».
Despite the most varied styles of music, “hip hop dominated”. «The fact that we have increased applications shows the success of this project and how the bands are attentive to what is happening», he added.
Finally, Custódio Moreno, regional director of IPDJ, considered that this RUA Stage, which incorporates the Música JA competition, only strengthens the need for “partnerships”.
«Today, nothing can be done without partners and this is the right path», he concluded.
