A 35-year-old woman suspected of having stabbed her 50-year-old partner to death in Olhão last Friday was arrested for qualified homicide and will await trial in pre-trial detention.

According to the Public Ministry, the murder took place inside a house, in Olhão, where they both lived, and following an altercation that lasted two hours, «during which the detainee bit her companion on the forehead».

Later, at around 23pm, the woman – who appeared to be drunk –, after accusing the victim of having a lover, took a knife and “struck her partner in the right pectoral region and left dorsal region, causing his death”.

The Public Prosecutor's Office, through the prosecutor of the Olhão section of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP), requested the detainee's preventive detention, which was granted by the criminal investigation judge.

The investigation is under the responsibility of the Southern Directorate of the Judiciary Police.
