180 athletes participated in the Algarve Regional BTT-XCO School Sports Championship, which took place on Thursday, April 18th, at Sítio da Espargosa, in Castro Marim.
This activity aimed to «concentrate all MTB-XCO groups and teams in the Algarve, with students from the 5th to the 12th year of schooling, also intending to provide interaction between students and teachers, at the same time that they competed directly, on trails more or less technicians, always complying with the rules of fair play and respecting nature with regard to fauna and flora», according to the Chamber of Castro Marim.
The program of this sporting and school initiative included five events, with two different characteristics: the small one with 1650 meters and 15 meters of elevation difference, and the large one with 2500 meters and 32 meters of elevation difference.
The initiative was organized by the D. José I School Group of Vila Real de Santo António and the School Sports Coordination of the Regional Directorate of Regional Services of the Algarve, with the support of the Municipality of Castro Marim, which praises the teacher's commitment and dedication Mário Alpiarça.
