Vila do Bispo takes measures to reduce consumption and save water

To face the drought situation

Vila do Bispo City Council implemented several measures with the aim of reducing consumption and promoting water savings in the municipality, and helping to combat the drought affecting the Algarve.

According to the municipality, one of the measures was the «reduction of pressure in the public water supply network where operational conditions are guaranteed».

The Chamber also carried out “monitoring and control of the supply network, the active detection of water leaks, the placement of smart meters in the localities of Barão de São Miguel, Burgau and Sagres that allow automatic availability of readings, greater efficiency in measurement and reduction of apparent losses, the suspension of irrigation of all public green spaces and the closure of fountains, fountains and public taps and the increase in tariffs in accordance with the guidelines of the Water and Waste Regulatory Entity – ERSAR».

The Vila-Bispense municipality highlights that, «along with the other municipalities, the Algarve, in 2024, must reduce 15% of its consumption compared to the year 2023» and asks for the collaboration of the entire population to achieve this objective.
