The national under-21 football team beat the Islands this Thursday, March 21st. Faroit is 4-0 in a qualifying match for the 2025 European Championship.
After a first half in which, despite dominating, Portugal did not play good football, the team took the lead in the second half.
The first goal was scored by Fábio Silva, in the 52nd minute, after a pass from Tiago Tomás.
The game seemed unblocked and the team reached the second through Carlos Borges, in the 87th minute, with a great pass from Mateus Fernandes, isolating the winger who had entered minutes ago.
Even though the game was coming to an end, Portugal still had time to score two more goals: one from Chermiti, who made his best debut for the under-21 team, at 90+4′ and one from Algarve's Mateus Fernandes, at 90+ 7′.
The team won and reached 15 points, leading group G.
Croatia, Portugal's next opponent also at São Luís, in Faro, is in 2nd with 13 points and one game less.
