MotoGP/Portugal: Maverick Viñales wins sprint race, Oliveira 12th

The second MotoE race – only for electric motorcycles – was won by Italian rider Mattia Casadei (Tech3)

Spanish rider Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) won today, March 23, the sprint race of the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix, in a race in which Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) was 12th.

Maverick Viñales, who suffers from gastroenteritis, completed the 12 laps with a time of 19.36,685 minutes, leaving his compatriot Marc Márquez (Ducati) in second place, 0,887 seconds behind, with fellow Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati) in third, at 1,170 seconds.

Two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) was fourth and, with this result, maintained command of the championship, with 37 points, two more than Jorge Martin.

The second MotoE race – only for electric motorcycles – was won by the Italian rider Mattia Casadei (Tech3).

Casadei spent 12.31,599 minutes to complete the scheduled seven laps, leaving the Spaniard Hector Garzo (Dynavolt) in second place, at 0,066 seconds, and the Spanish Oscar Gutierrez (Axxis) in third, at 0,198.

Brazilian Eric Granado (LCR) was fourth, despite starting from pole position.

Italian Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3), who had won the first race of the day, crashed when he was leading, after letting the front of his bike slip away.

With these results, Mattia Casadei leads the championship, with 41 points, one more than Hector Garzo.
