Juniors return to the road with the Volta ao Concelho de Loulé

The Algarve competition is one of the highlights of the national junior season

The junior squad will cycle during the Easter season in the 29th Volta ao Concelho de Loulé, which will take place between next Thursday and Sunday (28th, 29th and 30th March).

The Algarve competition, one of the highlights of the national junior season, will once again feature the main Portuguese teams and great support from Spanish teams. In 2024, the peloton will be made up of 144 cyclists from 24 teams, 14 Portuguese and 10 Spanish.

Over the course of three days, young cyclists will complete a total of 279,6 kilometers, divided into three stages – two stages and two half stages, as the second stage will have two sectors. The program includes an individual time trial and three runs in a line that will cover the municipality from the mountains to the coast.

The start is scheduled for Thursday, at 16:20 pm, with a 76-kilometer connection between Ameixial and Loulé. This is followed by a Friday with an 11-kilometre individual time trial, at 9:30 am, on the Loulé urban circuit, and a 74,4-kilometer line stage in the afternoon, which will depart from Quarteira at 16:20 pm.

On Saturday, the peloton will leave Loulé, at 11:50 am, for the queen stage, a journey of 118,2 kilometers, marked by five mountain counts, two of which are first category. Arrival is scheduled for 14:38 pm, at Avenida Laginha Serafim, in Loulé, location of almost all departures and arrivals (departures from the 1st and 3rd stages are the exceptions).
