Rain will only ease on Easter Sunday afternoon

Strong maritime agitation, especially on the west coast, will also decrease

The rain will only decrease in intensity and frequency in the South region from the afternoon of Easter Sunday, the 31st, announced the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere.

According to IPMA, the precipitation may be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, with greater probability this Saturday, the 30th. Snowfall is expected in the mountains of the North region and in Serra da Estrela.

«The weather in mainland Portugal continues to be influenced by frontal swells associated with a vast depression region that extends from Iceland to Madeira, one of the nuclei of which was the Nelson depression, which, in the meantime, moved to the northeast», explains IPMA.

Thus, the wind will be from the west or southwest, sometimes blowing strongly on the coast and highlands, especially from Saturday afternoon onwards, with gusts of up to 65 km/h and 75 km/h respectively.

Minimum temperature values ​​will generally vary between 6 and 11°C, being between -3 and 6°C in the North and Center interior.

As for the maximum, it will fluctuate between 11 and 17°C and be below 10°C in some places in the interior of the Center.

Strong sea agitation on the west coast, with waves from the northwest measuring 4 to 5 meters, will begin to gradually decrease from the morning of the 30th, with waves from the west or northwest measuring 3 to 3,5 meters still remaining until the end of the month. 31st, Easter Sunday.
