An earthquake of magnitude 2.8 (Richter), whose epicenter was located near Monchique, was recorded at 17:57 (local time) at the Continente Seismic Network stations, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has just announced.
According to IPMA, no information had yet been received confirming that this earthquake had been felt.
