Volta ao Algarve: Van Aert wins the sprint in Tavira and Martínez maintains the lead

Belgian Wout van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike) today won the third stage of the Volta ao Algarve by bike in a sprint, with Colombian Daniel Martínez (BORA-hansgrohe) maintaining the lead in Tavira.

At the end of the 192,2 kilometers between Vila Real de Santo António and Tavira, Van Aert achieved 4:50.57 hours, the same time as the Portuguese Rui Oliveira (UAE Emirates) and the German Marius Mayrhofer (Tudor), second and third , respectively.

Overall, Daniel Martínez, winner in 2023, has a four-second advantage over Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) and 12 over North American Sepp Kuss (Visma-Lease a Bike).
