The celebrations end with the Burial of Shrovetide on Ash Wednesday

Carnival returns to the municipality of Lagos, from the 9th to the 14th of February, with floats and musical entertainment by Rosinha (11th) and Jorge Guerreiro (13th), in Odiáxere.

The first moment of celebration takes place on the 9th of February with the Schools Carnival Parade, with the participation of close to two thousand masked children and their companions.

In the carnival parade, students from Pre-school Education and 1st Cycle of Basic Education from public schools of both groups (AE Gil Eanes and AE Júlio Dantas), private schools (Colégio Bambino and Externato Torraltinha) and local IPSS (CASLAS ) will join students from the Technical Educational Action Course at Escola Secundária Júlio Dantas and the Lagos Study Center (Senior University) to collaborate in the animation of the parade.

«With a free theme, creativity will run wild in the costumes, disguises, face paints and accessories that will parade on Avenida dos Descobrimentos, along the route between Cais da Solaria and the Frente Ribeirinha Car Park, ending at Praça do Infante», says the Lagos Chamber.

On the same day, two more school parades are scheduled to take place, one to take place in the village of Luz and the other in the village of Odiáxere, where students from schools located in the respective parishes will go.

In Odiáxere, carnival festivities last until the 14th of February, with the highlights of the program being the Assault on Carnival (the 10th), the Children's Carnival (the 11th), the Float Parades (the 11th and 13th). ) and, to close, the Burial of Entrudo, on Ash Wednesday.

«In between, a lineup full of local and national celebrities», highlighting the shows by singers Rosinha and Jorge Guerreiro, the obligatory dances and food and drinks.
