PS argues that public and accessible construction is the only solution for young people

PS candidates for the Assembly of the Republic visited the construction of three buildings in Lagos

The Socialist Party yesterday defended that public and accessible construction is the only solution for young people and the middle class, highlighting that the Algarve was the first region in the country to approve Local Housing Strategies in all municipalities.

In Lagos, PS candidates for the Assembly of the Republic visited the construction of three apartment buildings for affordable rental and where the start-up of another 100 homes is being prepared, in a total investment of 18 million euros for 339 homes.

«Contrary to what the Right proposes, the real estate market does not solve the problem of young people and working families. Only with strong and continued public investment by local authorities and the Government in the construction of a public housing stock will it be possible to respond to the needs of our population", said Jamila Madeira, assuming that the socialists' commitment is to guarantee access to housing for all that need it, including the middle class.

«The works take time, building a house takes time but this is the way to provide answers for young people and all those who depend on their income from work and cannot find a solution in the private market, teachers, health professionals, security forces, young people and the middle class itself, it is for them that these houses that are being built by local authorities using the Recovery and Resilience Program are intended», concluded the head of the Socialist Party list.

According to the party, the Algarve currently has 631 homes already delivered or in progress.
