EMARP reinforces the importance of combating water waste

With daily actions aimed at the school community and the general population

The Municipal Water and Waste Company of Portimão (EMARP) marks the month of March with the presentation of a set of education and environmental awareness initiatives on the topic of water and sanitation, aimed at the school community and the population in general.

In the current context of prolonged hydrological drought that the Algarve is facing, this company intends to highlight the urgency of combating the waste of this natural resource.

Thus, through a set of daily actions, of a face-to-face and digital nature, under the motto “Blue March”, EMARP draws attention to the importance of good practices and behaviors adjusted to reality.

A specific package of actions on the topic of water and sanitation was made available to school groups in the municipality of Portimão, which covers information about the climate context that the Algarve region is experiencing.

The program of activities, which begins on March 1st, will run until the end of the school year.

Among the different initiatives is the launch of the children's book “Let's Save Hydra”, a story designed for younger people to understand the value of water and the importance of preserving it; and the holding of an action entitled “Invisible Waste”, on World Water Day, March 22, at the Continente Shopping Center in Portimão.

According to EMARP, the “Blue March” “aims to promote reflection on the value of water, its
finiteness and the best way for each person to use this finite resource, contributing to a more conscious society and capable of putting into practice behaviors that are perpetuated by future generations».

These initiatives aim to reinforce the information campaign to reduce water consumption in the Algarve, launched on February 1st by Águas do Algarve, in partnership with Algarve municipalities.
