Blessing of the Algarve Firefighters takes place at Mãe Soberana

The initiative, which will take place at 15 pm, is now resumed after the pandemic

The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority and the parishes of Silves and Loulé are promoting, on the 24th of February, a celebration to bless the helmets of firefighters from the Algarve corporations, at the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Piedade, in Loulé.

The initiative, which will take place at 15 pm, is now being resumed after the pandemic.

Usually presided over by the Bishop of Algarve D. Manuel Neto Quintas, this ceremony aims to show the gratitude and closeness that Catholic communities in the region have towards peacekeepers, whilst seeking to raise awareness of the need for each one to take on the role of a prevention agent and as someone who can collaborate, in the toughest and most complex moments.
