Autódromo Internacional do Algarve: Manuel Gonzalez was faster in Moto2 tests

The tests take place just a month before the Portuguese GP

Manuel Gonzalez was the fastest in the Moto2 tests, which took place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão, this weekend.

During these days, the Moto2 riders had their work hampered due to the rain and, on Saturday, it was only possible to meet the minimum conditions for the 27 riders to be able to get on the track within two hours of the day.

Until then, only 12 drivers had managed to do timed laps – and at the end of that period it was Madrilenian Manuel Gonzalez who set the best lap with a pass at 4.592 meters of the circuit in 1m42.797s.

The new QJMotor/Gresini recruit completed a total of 41 laps and beat Aaron Canet – making his debut here in Fantic colors – by just 69 thousandths of a second.

The third fastest was Tony Arbolino, with a best lap of 1m43.042s, ahead of Marcos Ramirez and Jake Dixon who showed the CF Moto colors for the first time in the Moto2 world championship.

On Sunday, the 25th, there were only nine drivers who took to the track.

British rider Jake Dixon was the fastest with a “slow” lap of 1m44.998s – which would have earned him 18th position the day before – beating Fermin Aldeguer and Alonso Lopez, the two Boscoscuro drivers.

The tests take place just one month before Portuguese GP.
