Seven Algarvians elected as members of the PS National Commission

After being elected in Congress, the National Commission will now elect, at its first meeting, the Political Commission and the PS Secretariat

Seven people from the Algarve were elected as members of the PS National Commission at the socialists' congress that ended this Sunday, January 7th, in Lisbon. 

The list of employees includes three mayors: António Pina, president of the Chamber of Olhão and AMAL – Algarve Intermunicipal Community, Álvaro Araújo, president of the Chamber of Vila Real de Santo António, and Vítor Guerreiro, president of the Chamber of São Brás de Alportel .

The latter also has the particularity of having been a supporter of José Luís Carneiro – and not the new general secretary Pedro Nuno Santos – in the direct PS elections.

The list also includes the names of Jorge Botelho, deputy and former mayor in Tavira, Telmo Pinto, president of the Parish Council of Quarteira, Tatiana Gouveia, municipal deputy of the PS in Faro, and Ilda Pereira.

Eight more Algarvians were elected as substitutes, also with three mayors: Hugo Pereira (Lagos), Luís Encarnação (Lagoa) and Rute Silva (Vila do Bispo).

These are joined by Ricardo Calé, councilor of the Olhão Chamber, Marlene Guerreiro, vice-president of the São Brás de Alportel Chamber, and Luis Alberto, president of the Ferragudo Parish Council.

The list of substitutes also includes Sofia Belchior, Maria da Luz and Nicolae Santos.

As for deputy Francisco Oliveira, he remained on the National Jurisdiction Commission.

After being elected in Congress, the National Commission will now elect, at its first meeting, the Political Commission and the PS Secretariat.
