Book “Proceedings of the Winter 2023 Conference Cycle – History of the Algarve” presented in Tavira

The book “Proceedings of the Winter 2023 Conference Cycle – History of the Algarve” was launched this Saturday, January 20th, at the Álvaro de Campos Municipal Library, in Tavira.

The publication, published by the Associação Casa Álvaro de Campos, brings together works by several Algarve researchers, namely, “Stones that speak: family heraldry in Álgarve”, by Óscar Caeiro Pinto, “Reorientations and transformations of the church of the convent of São Francisco de Tavira (1336th to XNUMXth centuries)”, by Marco Sousa Santos, “Considerations on the port of Tavira in the first half of the XNUMXth century: its role in the naval expedition against the coasts of Huelva, in XNUMX”, by Fernando Pessanha and “The Balsa coins: economic, identity reflection and testimony of collective memory”, by João Pedro de Matos.

It was before an almost sold out auditorium that the host Vítor Gil Cardeira welcomed the public and that José Carlos Vilhena Mesquita, professor at the University of Algarve, presented the work, highlighting its great importance for the construction of knowledge about the History of the Algarve .

The Winter 2024 Conferences, organized by Casa Álvaro de Campos, will start next February, with the respective minutes book being released next year.
