Tourist office, multipurpose space, restaurant and bar, multipurpose concert hall. This will be the equipment that will operate in the building of the former Armação de Pêra Casino, whose work began a few days ago and should be completed within ten months.
The intervention, which will cost more than two million euros, is carried out «at the expense of the successful bidder of the public tender» launched by the Municipality of Silves in 2020, for the «granting of the right to operate a restaurant and beverage area».
The purpose, according to the municipality, is «to restore and rehabilitate the image and function of this iconic building, which constitutes cultural heritage of municipal interest, and for it to once again constitute a reference hub on the Armação de Pêra Seafront, optimizing the its public use and enjoyment».
The definition of the uses to be given to the former Armação de Pêra Casino «resulted from a public consultation with the population, carried out by the municipality of Silva in 2016».
The intervention also integrates the outdoor spaces that surround the building on the south and east fronts, «reconciling the functions of the commercial area with a recreational, leisure and contemplative area of the urban and natural landscape», adds the Municipality.
After completion of the works, the operation of the future restaurant and beverage area, which will include a multipurpose room for shows, «will always involve the payment by the successful bidder of a monthly financial compensation, in favor of the Municipality of Silves».
Furthermore, while the concession of the right to operate lasts, the successful tenderer will have to transfer, free of charge, the use of the multipurpose concert hall to the Municipality of Silves, «for at least 15 days, which can be continuous or interpolated, to carry out cultural, artistic, recreational, recreational, educational or training activities or events, promoted, co-organized or supported by the municipality».
The former Armação de Pêra Casino will now have the following features:
» Multipurpose space with a cultural vocation, for the installation of a small library/reading space, which allows educational, pedagogical, cultural, artistic, recreational and leisure activities to be carried out, and which will be equipped with independent access. This space should be occupied and promoted by the services of the Municipality of Silves.
» Tourist office, which integrates the necessary functions, with independent access, which will be occupied and promoted by the services of the Algarve Tourism Region.
» Restaurant and beverage establishment, with inherent commercial space, equipped with a multipurpose concert hall, with dressing rooms, allowing for concerts, entertainment, conferences, lectures and training.
» Exterior access to the roof terrace, allowing to optimize the functional use of the building, namely as a terrace for the food and beverage establishment.
