Between March 2022 and December last year, EMARP – Municipal Water and Waste Company of Portimão collected 1800 kilos of plastic lids and cork stoppers for the Associação Espiral de Vontades.
The project implemented at the beginning of 2022 was communicated under the banner “Everyone Cares” and included the installation of four supports located in Alameda da Praça da República, in the riverside areas of Portimão and Alvor and in the center of Mexilhoeira Grande.
According to EMARP, «the structures intended for collecting lids aim to inspire good practices, coinciding with the principles of Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility, valuing a material that can be transformed and simultaneously converted into a monetary value that reverts to social causes".
The counterpart of the “caps” delivered by EMARP to the Associação Espiral de Vontades aims to support David Duarte, a 12-year-old boy, who was born with cerebral palsy and needs ongoing therapy.
The caps to be deposited in the structures must be made of plastic (high density polyethylene and polypropylene packaging lids), preferably food liquids – water, juices, detergents, shampoos, softeners or other similar types of packaging.
In addition to the plastic caps, EMARP also delivers all cork stoppers received at its headquarters building to Espiral de Vontades.
