Five Algarve wines win Gold in Crédito Agrícola competition

Four red wines and one white were awarded.

Five Algarve wines were awarded the Gold Medal in the 10th Edition of the Crédito Agrícola Wine Competition, in a ceremony that took place on January 12th, in Lisbon.

In the white wine category, the Algarve wine distinguished in this competition promoted in partnership by Crédito Agrícola and the Associação dos Escanções de Portugal was Onda Nova Viognier 2022, from Adega do Cantor.

With regard to red wines, four wines were distinguished: EDD’S Private Collection Grande Reserva 2017, from Concepts by Edd’s II; Esquerdino Syrah Reserva 2021, from Josefina Fernandes; Malaca Castelão 2019, from Sociedade Agrícola Quinta da Malaca; and the Miradouro da Guia Premium 2019, from Adega do Cantor.

 

 

The jury, made up of oenologists, oenophiles and journalists specialized in the sector, distinguished, during the blind tastings held on October 21st, 75 wines, of which 70 with the Gold Medal, three with the Grand Gold Medal (Artesano Perrum Reserva, Alentejano Regional Wine 2021, from Elite Vinhos; Quinta da Carregosa Touriga Nacional Grande Reserva DOC Douro 2018, from Carregosa Vinhos; Quinta do Cerrado da Porta, Sparkling Brut Natural Super Reserva “Blanc de Blanc” Regional Wine Lisbon White, 2019, from producer Cerrado da Porta) and two distinctions for Sustainable Production Wine, the new feature presented in this edition of the Competition, under the theme of sustainability.

Wines from the regions of Douro (15 medals), Dão (nine medals), Beira Interior (one medal), Bairrada (three medals), Tejo (six medals), Lisbon (seven medals), Península de Setúbal (eight medals) were also distinguished. medals), Alentejo (19 medals) and Azores (one medal), as well as Vinhos Verdes (one medal).

In total, 246 wines were submitted to the competition – white, red and sparkling – put to the test by 99 national producers from the various wine regions of the country, Customers and Associates of Crédito Agrícola.

The Crédito Agrícola Wine Competition aims to «promote and test the quality of national wines, seeking to generate new business opportunities and boost the communities where it carries out its work in direct contact with people», according to Crédito Agrícola .
