The Municipality of Castro Marim reinforced the collection of solid urban waste throughout the municipality with the acquisition of new vehicles and other equipment.
As investment in the collection of urban solid waste is one of the biggest municipal management challenges, the municipality invested last year in seven new vehicles in the first phase.
Last year, investments were also made in cleaning, washing and sanitizing services for disposal containers for unsorted urban waste and their surroundings, with an integrated and reinforced team.
Furthermore, the Municipality of Castro Marim advanced with the organization of teams, reinforced with the external contracting of services, to «carry out a muscular intervention from cleaning the surroundings, sanitizing and washing containers, to georeferencing and evaluating execution times of each task”.
For the next two years, with the perspective of providing an effective response and improving the Urban Waste Management service and respective hygiene and health, the Municipality plans to acquire new vehicles and human resources for this area, which has a budgetary weight very significant.
An awareness campaign for the collection of bio-waste in the municipality is planned to be launched in the coming weeks, with one of the new vehicles being directed towards this service.
