Câmara de Lagos gives new space to LAC

Building, which once housed a Civil Metalworks, is integrated into a wider urban complex that also includes the former GNR building and the former Slaughterhouse

The Lagos City Council will provide the LAC – Creative Arts Laboratory with another space for cultural activities.

Located on Rua Convento Senhora da Glória, in Lagos, the building, which once housed a Civil Metalworks, is integrated into a wider urban complex that also includes the former GNR building and the former Slaughterhouse, and is located next to the current headquarters of this association cultural, the building of the old Lagos prison.

This transfer, to be formalized through a lending contract, «allows us to meet part of the operating needs of the LAC, a cultural structure whose dynamics have been recognized, both by the municipality and the Ministry of Culture», says the Lagos Chamber.

The deactivated GNR and Matadouro buildings are currently outside the contract, as the municipality is studying the possible destinations for the entire space, which may remain linked to municipal projects.
