Sotavento Irrigation Association installs photovoltaic systems

According to the association, savings of around 350 MWH are expected, which will avoid the emission of another 500 tons of CO2 per year

The Association of Beneficiaries of the Sotavento Irrigation Plan (ABPRSA) is installing self-consumption photovoltaic systems at its headquarters and at the pumping stations of the Santo Estevão Reservoir, Santa Rita and Asseca.

The objective, explains the association, «is to improve the efficiency and energy performance of ABPRSA».

«In each of these locations, photovoltaic panels were installed in sufficient quantities to cover the daytime needs of the facilities. The implementation phase of this project has already been completed, with the installation of photovoltaic panels in four locations with substantial electricity bills», he adds.

This was an investment supported by PDR2020- No 17 / Operation 3.4.2 / 2022 – “Improving the Efficiency of Existing Irrigation Systems – Installation of Photovoltaic Panels in Hydroagricultural Developments”, at 120 thousand euros.

According to the association, savings of around 350 MWH are expected, which will avoid the emission of another 500 tons of CO2 per year.
