The Municipality of Aljezur will invest in measurement and control points and install 1500 ultrasonic meters to prevent water losses and improve water efficiency.
The installation of these meters is part of a set of measures to contain consumption, control and efficiency over water management approved by the municipality at a Chamber meeting on February 17, 2022.
“Measures were taken to reduce consumption in public buildings, reduce irrigation and in some cases, irrigation systems were closed in some green spaces, among other actions”, says the municipality.
The Municipality of Aljustrel also adds that "large investments" are being made in the Chaparral, Carrapateira, Barreiras Vermelhas and Vale da Telha water tank network, and actions are being carried out to install 16 control and measurement points in the public supply network. .
Furthermore, the contract for the acquisition and installation of 1500 smart meters is underway and has already been awarded, meters with integrated telemetry for monitoring and controlling water losses, to be installed in the Vale da Telha area and other locations, «which will allow greater efficiency and effectiveness in the management of public water”.
These investments were supported by the Environmental Fund and carried out with the municipality's own funds.
