The 24th Al-Mutamid Music Festival is back at the Albufeira Municipal Auditorium, on the 9th of February, starting at 21:30 pm.

This festival, which is a tribute to the poet king Al-Mutamid, son and successor of the king of Seville Muhammad Ibn Abbad (Al-Mutadid), is attended by Arab-Andalusi music groups, Sufi music and dance and music and dance groups. of the Maghreb and the Middle East.

The Festival features the group Yinnan Al Andalus, formed by three musicians originally from Tétouan and Chefchaouen (Morocco) who interpret the complex and delicate music that echoed in the palaces and medinas of Al-Andalus and the Middle East: Hamid Ajbar (violin and voice) , Aziz Samsaoui (Kanun – Arabic sitar) and Mouhssine Kouraichi (darbouka and voice).

The trio also has the collaboration of Mónica Pereira, an oriental dancer.

In a note, the Municipality of Albufeira explains that Yinnan Al Andalus means in Arabic, Gardens of Al Andalus. When Ziryab (blackbird), nickname given to Alboacem Ali ibn Nafi (789-857), the famous musician, arrived in the emirate of Córdoba, he brought with him all the sophistication of the Abbasid Caliphate of Baghdad.

«This refinement was manifested at all levels: gastronomy, clothing, poetry and music. It was an urban society, and as such, gardens had great importance as places of rest, enjoyment and artistic inspiration. It was based on these gardens that the Yinnan trio were inspired to create this musical project», he continues.
