Four detained in pre-trial detention for drug trafficking in São Brás de Alportel

Three women and one man were also accused.

A woman and four men, aged between 19 and 43, were arrested for drug trafficking on December 13th, in São Brás de Alportel, with most of them being held in preventive detention. 

The arrests resulted from an investigation that had been ongoing for around a year and, within the scope of which, last July, 17 individuals had already been arrested (subject to the coercion measure of preventive detention) and more than 20 thousand doses of drugs were seized.

The Guard soldiers have now executed four arrest warrants and 15 search warrants: ten at homes, three at vehicles and two at a prison.

Following the investigations, “an important trafficking network” that operated in the region was dismantled, with particular focus on the municipalities of São Brás de Alportel, Loulé, Faro, Olhão and Tavira. 

Also seized were 195 doses of hashish, 21 doses of cocaine, 12 doses of cannabis, a cannabis grinding mill, a precision scale, eleven pieces of ammunition, two knives, several gold pieces, a television, a laptop, 12 cell phones and 8 euros in cash.

Following the action, three women and one man, between 23 and 77 years old, were also accused of drug trafficking. 

The five detainees were present yesterday, December 17th, at the Judicial Court of Faro, resulting in the application of the coercive measure of preventive detention to four detainees, one woman and three men, with the other male detainee being subject to the coercive measure of periodic presentations at the police station in the area of ​​residence.

The operation was reinforced by military personnel from the Criminal Investigation (IC) structure, from the Territorial Detachments of Faro, Loulé and Albufeira and the Intervention Detachment (DI), all from the Territorial Command of Faro, from GNR.
