Pingo Doce's Bairro Feliz Program supported 30 projects in the Algarve

Donations were delivered on November 25th

On November 30th, 25 Algarve projects received donations from the Pingo Doce supermarket chain, as part of the Bairro Feliz Program, which allows customers of the brand's different stores to vote on the projects they want to be supported.

This Pingo Doce social responsibility initiative foresees that each store supports “a cause that promotes a positive impact on the community in which it operates” with a donation of one thousand euros.

«Some examples of winning causes in the district of Faro are the acquisition of a climbing panel for an association, chosen in Pingo Doce de Portimão – Recomar, which aims to enable children who attend it to explore skills in terms of motor coordination, spatial and temporal perception, or the purchase of materials for the creation of a workshop to share ancestral knowledge, using threads such as crochet, mesh, lace and macramé, a winning project at Pingo Doce in Quinta do Lago, with the purpose of combating social isolation and promoting active aging », describes Pingo Doce.

The company also highlights the donation given to the Social and Cultural Association of Tôr, «whose cause was the vote in Pingo Doce de Loulé – Vieira, which competed for the Program in order to acquire aquariums for the institution, which through its vibrant copper and movements gentle and constantly active, will provide emotional, sensory, social and cognitive benefits to your elderly».

«It was with great enthusiasm that Pingo Doce held this third national edition of Bairro Feliz and witnessed the mobilization of neighbors and local institutions who registered close to 3.000 ideas of different types and also, in the voting phase, the very strong participation of customers of the Pingo Doce, from the north to the south of the country and the islands of Madeira and the Azores, to vote for their favorite causes», according to Filipa Pimentel, director of Sustainable Development and Local Impact at Pingo Doce.

At a national level, Pingo Doce's Bairro Feliz Program supported 454 projects.
