Loulé City Council has already launched applications for the Theater Support Grant for 2024, in order to encourage cultural creation and production in the Municipality.
Applications, aimed at amateur and professional projects in the Theater field, will be open until January 14, 2024.
The Theater Support Grant is aimed at associative and artistic circles (agents and structures with legal personality and based in the municipality), including amateur and professional projects, for a total value of 75 thousand euros.
Candidates must present their proposals to Loulé City Council through Cineteatro Louletano, via e-mail to [email protected], or send by post to Cineteatro Louletano, Av. José da Costa Mealha, 8100-501 , Loulé.

In a note, the municipality emphasizes that «the Loulé Theater Support Grant is an important instrument to support theatrical creation, focused on the presentation of new plays» and, on the other hand, «allows amateur and professional groups based in the municipality to have effective support for the creative component».
«The Grant also encourages the decentralization of cultural practices and dynamics in Loulé, implying the presentation of three shows by each amateur group, one of which must be at the Cineteatro Louletano and two in the parishes of the municipality of Loulé».
In this incentive there is also a training dimension, contributing to greater artistic training and qualification of the various competing structures and the groups are also obliged to attend a workshop in the area of theater, guided by professionals.
The Grant encourages the external promotion and circulation of professional theater structures in Louletano and professional groups are also linked to three presentations, one of them at the Cineteatro Louletano and two in other municipalities in the Algarve in rooms that are part of Rede Azul – Rede de Teatros do Algarve or in the Network of Portuguese Theaters and Cinemas – RTCP – a network of which Cineteatro Louletano is a member.
