Government grants time off on December 26th and January 2nd

It was published today in a note from the Prime Minister's office

The Government decided to grant time off on December 26th and January 2nd to workers who perform public functions in the State, according to a note from the Prime Minister's office released today.

«Schedule tolerance is granted to workers who perform public functions in direct State administration services, whether central or deconcentrated, and in public institutes on the 26th of December and 2nd of January», is stated in the note.

In the note, António Costa's office justifies the point tolerances by the fact that it is «traditional for many people to travel outside their places of residence during the Christmas and New Year period in order to hold family gatherings».

In relation to these two days of grace period, it is highlighted that “services and bodies that, for reasons of public interest, must remain in operation during that period are excluded, under terms to be defined by the competent member of the Government”.
