Lagos City Council installs 24 automatic external defibrillators

Lagos City Council will install 24 Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) in the municipality to respond to cardiorespiratory arrest (CPA) situations.

At the moment, and already active, there are the first four DAEs in school premises (ES Júlio Dantas, EB Tecnopolis, ES Gil Eanes and EB das Naus).

At the beginning of the year, «the vehicles of the security and rescue forces operating in the municipality will have five pieces of equipment (Civil Protection, Municipal Police, PSP, GNR and Maritime Police)», says Lagos City Council.

The program will also be extended to municipal workshops (Chinicato) and, in support of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lagos, three of the units will be equipped with a defibrillator.

The program ends its first phase with the placement of 11 defibrillators in booths on public roads, distributed throughout the areas of the four parishes: Luz, Espiche, Almádena, Barão de São João, Bensafrim, Chinicato, Odiáxere and Lagos (Praça do Infante, Mercado Santo Amaro, Praça Gil Eanes and next to the XNUMXst Century Paços do Concelho Building).

Furthermore, the municipality, through the Civil Protection and Forest Defense Service and in conjunction with the Lagos Fire Department, trained more than 300 people from the entities directly involved in the vicinity of the equipment and will soon make it available to the population in general the possibility of joining this program by attending the DAE Basic Life Support course.
