São Brás de Alportel Social Assistance Service has already handled almost 180 cases

Municipality provides a “very positive review” of the first six months of this service

In six months, the Social Assistance and Monitoring Service that the São Brás de Alportel Chamber launched, under the Government's process of decentralization of competences, has already reached almost 180 cases, with close to 100 in the monitoring phase. 

This Algarve municipality thus draws «a very positive assessment of the first half of the year».

Since April, 176 consultations have been carried out: including face-to-face consultations, telephone consultations and referrals, as well as connections to other services, with close to a hundred active and in the process of being monitored by the social action service.

«With this additional area of ​​competence, there are many and complex challenges we face, in Social Services, to help those who need it most», explains the vice-president of the Chamber Marlene Guerreiro, responsible for the Social Action department.

«The assessment we make of this first semester since the new service that was previously the responsibility of Social Security is very positive, as it allows us to provide a better response, through our social services, given our knowledge of the reality and the ability to coordinate with all local entities. , in networking that is fundamental», he continues.

This service, which operates at the Community Support Center, where the municipality's Social Services operate, ensures the care and social support of people and families in situations of vulnerability and social exclusion, including beneficiaries of the Social Insertion Income and assistance in situations of of social emergency.

The Community Support Center, located at Rua Serpa Pinto, no. 28, is open from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 13:00 pm and from 14:00 pm to 17:00 pm.

Calls for the Social Assistance and Monitoring Service take place on Tuesdays, from 9:00 am to 13:00 pm, and on Thursdays, from 14:00 pm to 17:00 pm, by prior appointment in person or by contacting 289 840 020 and [email protected].
